Travel 2008 Ragbrai - The Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa

You start the Ragbrai by dipping your rear tire in the Missouri River.
You quickly learn that training in Illinois does not prepare you for the hills in Iowa.
Just Breath!

The first night a tornado touched down, so they piled us all into a tin shed?

Loading up my gear every day at dawn.

Ten thousand week long riders.

The banana man saw I was hurting, so he pulled in front of me and played Eye of the Tiger on his solar powered boom box, hill after hill, till I got used to the pain.

I should have just peed on the dumpsters.

You see that pup tent?  Good, because I will not be sleeping in it again.

I was not part of this group, I just wish I was.

So true!

Riding into a 25 mph headwind,. 5 days into the ride.

Woman's Restroom

"All"  my stuff for the week.

Success! The Greatest Accomplishment of my Life, to that date.  I had severe neck pain the last day, it was no walk in the park.

Dipping my front tire in the Mississippi River.  Mission Accomplished.  For me the ride was 522 miles and 22,000 feet of climb.  Riders nicknamed me the "Lamas Breather," but I never SAGED out!
